Happy February! It feels like we were just sending out our January newsletter, and with the blink of an eye, we are in February. January was a rough month for our beloved state of California, from 2023 starting out with devastating storms, to the tragic mass shootings that plagued Monterey Park, Oakland, and Half Moon Bay, just to name a few. As we move on from a tough month, it is important that we take a moment, and remember those neighbors and friends we lost, but also those that are still with us.
In February, we come together and celebrate Black History Month and those individuals who helped break barriers and acted as catalysts of change, but also reflect on the darker times in our history. It was 1976 when President Ford encouraged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history”. From that point on, Black History commemorations moved from colleges and universities to being celebrated on a national stage. At Upward CU, we are laser-focused on changing our members’ lives financially and it is with that focus we are excited to share the news of our new personal/signature loan promotion. Check out the article below for complete details. We are also happy to share that Upward Credit Union is once again accepting new IRA accounts and deposits, so be sure to think of us as you are making your final 2022 contributions. These are just a couple of ways we are striving to help with your financial well-being.
On February 15th, we will convene around the computer screen once again for the Credit Union’s Annual Membership Meeting. This year will mark our 66th Annual Meeting and election of our volunteers to our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. There is still time to RSVP by clicking here. While we can’t provide tasty food and beverages, we can provide a chance to “see” each other and a chance to hear the State of the Credit Union, and yes, we will still have lots of prizes to give away at the end of the meeting.
Lastly, I want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember, you don’t need to worry about the gift of Upward membership being the wrong size or not being delivered on time – it’s the perfect gift for your loved ones.
